American Revolution Experience
The Hadley-Lake Luzerne Historical Society was honored to host the American Revolution Experience created by the American Battlefield Trust and DAR. It was on display at Rockwell Falls Public Library in September, 2024.
The American Revolution Experience invites visitors to consider the choice faced by members of the revolutionary generation as tensions mounted in the 1770s: Would these ordinary citizens risk their lives and livelihoods in pursuit of liberty? Or would they remain loyal subjects of the British crown, coming into conflict with neighbors and family? What would you choose?

Susan Wilder Received Women of Distinction Award
Big News in June !! Our own Society President, Susan Wilder, received Assemblyman Matt Simpson’s Women of Distinction award.
Her nomination reads, in part; ‘Sue has brought business and tourism to the two towns of Hadley and Lake Luzerne as a former store owner of the well-received Gift Shop, “Some Favorite Things Gallery”.
Sue currently leads the Lake Luzerne/Hadley Ambassador Program which welcomes visitors to our local historic sites. Sue ensures the historic sites are maintained, staffed, and welcoming to the public. She is the president of the Hadley Business Association and runs the Annual Maple in April Festival. Sue is also the president of the Hadley Lake Luzerne Historical Society.
She compiles a list of community summer events that is distributed for free every year. She personally sees to the beautification throughout the town by planting flowers everywhere along with her friend Roni. She attends church regularly and does many charitable things throughout the two towns.”
A true asset to the community, Sue was honored at a reception on Thursday, June 13th.
